👋 Good Morning!
Going into Week 3 of the college football season, we still don’t know who the full-time starting quarterback for CU is going to be. And now after a shaky start for Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi at Colorado State, the veteran is battling his backup to try and keep his job at the moment as well.
Both teams have aspirations of at the very least competing at a high level in conference play. These next couple of games are huge for the Buffs and the Rams. At some point you’ve got to find some stability.

A retractable roof could be a strategic advantage for the Broncos

Sean Payton shared a little bit of his vision for operating in the new Broncos stadium and it sounds like just because the facility will have a retractable roof does not mean we’d never see another snow game.
“The one thing I kept reading is that we’re used to the snow and the elements. I’m not going to speak for Greg and Carrie, but those will all exist,” he said.
Payton went on to say that there can be a sterileness when you play under a roof full-time. He also added that it’s an advantage for the home team to be able to dictate what kind of conditions the game will be played in.
I’ve spent a lot of Sundays freezing my butt off in the stands over the years. I have a unique appreciation for the cold games because of all of the memories I have of bundling up and trudging down to the stadium with my dad or grandfather.
I’d be lying, though, if I said there haven’t been a handful of times when it would have been nice to escape into a controlled climate. Like when there’s no snow falling but it’s about 15 degrees at kickoff and the brisk wind cuts through any amount of layers that you’ve put on. By the fourth quarter your whole body just feels stiff and sore, and your lips and eyes get all all dried out. You’ll find yourself going to the bathroom just to be able to feel the heaters for a second.
Sitting in the rain is even worse. There was a game against Washington back in about 2005 and it legitimately poured the entire time. There’s no escaping being soaked. There’s just being wet and uncomfortable for three hours.
It will be interesting to see how the whole process plays out. But I like the idea of getting to pick and choose the climate depending on the situation. You’ve got Tampa Bay coming in for a December matchup? Let them freeze. If it’s going to be 90 degrees in September, maybe close it up and keep everyone cool.

It wasn’t a banner day against the Titans for Denver’s second-year QB. The gunslinger was responsible for three turnovers and really looked out of sorts at times. He’s showing his maturity with the way he’s owning the situation though.
