Did you know that last night’s victory over the Commanders was the first overtime win for the Broncos in a decade?

Prior to Sunday night, Denver had lost five straight games that went to OT, including three matchups in the 2022 season alone. The 27-26 win over the Commanders was just the second game to extend past regulation under Sean Payton. The first was obviously the 2024 shootout against Joe Burrow and the Bengals last December.

As far as the game goes, Washington moved the ball more than I would have anticipated coming in. But even on a night where they had some struggles, the Broncos still got a couple of massive plays out of the defense. And for every blow that the opponent landed, Bo Nix always had a counter. The touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton at the end of the second quarter was one of the more impressive plays of his career.

Moving forward the Broncos have to find a semblance of a run game. Maybe that means getting Nix involved in the rushing attack with some designed runs to help compliment R.J. Harvey.

But for the cynics who can’t enjoy anything, Denver has now beaten both of last season’s NFC Championship teams on the road. The road win over the Texans looks pretty impressive right now as well.

Good teams can win in their own building. Great teams can win anywhere.
