I’m admittedly a sappy individual but the atmosphere at Mile High on Sunday made me emotional. The energy in the building, the passion of the people, that was one hell of a football game and I feel genuinely lucky to have seen it.

The Denver Broncos are the top team in the AFC and playing like Super Bowl contenders. Bo Nix is balling out and just played the best game of his professional career. What will the cynics say now?

When the Broncos beat the defending Super Bowl champions in their own building, the pundits responded by looking for holes. The Broncos beat the Texans on the road and were rewarded with being home underdogs in two of the next three at Mile High — even despite how Denver has now won 12 straight at Empower Field going back to last season.

All season long we’ve had to listen to the national voices try to put limits on this team’s ceiling. They saw Nix struggle in one game — a game that the Broncos won — and then tried to close the chapter on him.

Sunday’s win was a statement and Bo Nix said it best. The Broncos aren’t underdogs, they’re the ‘overdogs’.
