👋 Good Morning!
Have you been following the Eurobasket at all? Nikola Jokić and Serbia are 4-0 in the prestigious international basketball tournament and pretty much dominating their group in this opening stage.
The knockout round begins Sept. 06, so the best games are still to come in the tournament. If you enjoyed the product in the Olympics, I recommend you check out the action. Our guys at DNVR have done a great job covering the event and it’s been fun to follow it all.
I won’t get too sappy on you here but it’s unique the way sports can bring random communities together. There’s a whole contingent of Nuggets fans, myself included, who take every opportunity to cheer on the Serbian national team. The Nuggets are obviously very popular over in Serbia as well. The love for the best basketball player on the planet is a powerful thing.

Bill Belichick is showing that sometimes it’s better to go out on top

(Imagn)
The Bill Belichick legacy is steadily becoming more and more complicated. Between the weird saga that's his personal life right now and the very odd decision to go to the college ranks, a man that could have walked away on top is adding chapters to the story that nobody wants to see.
Don’t get me wrong here. I honestly think he’s still capable of coaching but I just don’t see the fit at UNC. A large part of what made him so special in the NFL was his ability to methodically and obsessively game-plan for the opponent. He could throw so many different looks at you and he had the players capable of executing his vision. The college game is far simpler and really as much about relationship building and motivating young men as it is about scheming.
It’s a one-game sample size, so there’s plenty of time for a brilliant football mind like him to find his footing. But despite my hate for the New England Patriots, I have a lot of respect and admiration for Belichick’s greatness. I think it’s hard for elite competitors but sometimes it’s better to leave the game with a little gas left in the tank rather than going until the wheels fall off.
Imagine if Peyton Manning really did play another year and we all had to tap dance around the fact that he just couldn’t throw the football anymore. Or what if John Elway played one more season and he got injured because he no longer could use his legs to extend the play like he had throughout his entire career? You wouldn’t have blamed those guys for giving it another go but in hindsight it’s best for their legacies that they went out as champions.
As a lifelong CSU fan, I wish Sonny Lubick had retired after the 2005 season. Instead he ended up getting fired two years later and it’s still something that makes me stick to my stomach.
We’ll see how this story plays out. It doesn’t seem destined for a happy ending though.

The Buffs aired it out while Shedeur Sanders was under center. Should that still be the case in 2025?

Still too low tbh
