👋 Good Morning!

Nikola Jokić will miss tonight’s game against the Detroit Pistons but seems to be close to returning to action.

As heartbreaking as the end of the season was for the Broncos, it’s a good reminder that we have two other teams in this city that are top contenders going into the spring.

Brock Nelson is the unsung hero on the best team in hockey

(Imagn)

Brock Nelson doesn’t get the same spotlight as Nathan MacKinnon or Cale Makar. He’s not beloved on a national level like Gabe Landeskog. But when the Colorado Avalanche are celebrating with the Stanley Cup in the streets of Denver, Nelson is going to be one of the biggest reasons why.

After his hat-trick against the Maple Leafs on Sunday, the 34-year-old center is up to 27 goals on the year. If he keeps his current pace the veteran will top 40 goals this season, which is pretty wild for the 2C. For comparison, Nazem Kadri, who was awesome during his tenure here, never even scored 30.

There were a lot of people who thought the Avs gave Nelson too much money to keep him around. I think it’s safe to say that he’s been worth every penny.

Avalanche Takeover

We’re taking over Ball Arena for the upcoming Avs-Red Wings game on Feb. 02.

Come hang with the DNVR Avalanche crew and your fellow Diehards as we remind the team from Detroit that we do in fact still hate their guts.

The Broncos have a lot of big decisions to make regarding free agents this spring. Will they bring back Johnathon Franklin-Myers? What about J.K. Dobbins?

It’s been a next-man-up mentality for the Nuggets all season long. I’ve been so impressed with the way we’ve seen so many different players rise to the occasion.

Even on my worst days as a Denver sports fan, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
