👋 Good Morning!
It’s great to be back after some much-needed vacation time with the family. They’re a big part of why I am where I am today and it’s always nice to spend a little time together before things really ramp up in the fall.
Now that I’m back in action and rocking with you daily, I want to start by acknowledging a couple of local stars that each looked good in their NFL debuts. Obviously you have to take all preseason results with a grain of salt — it’s not always an indicator of what’s to come in the regular season — but both Tory Horton (CSU) and Shedeur Sanders (CU) had strong NFL debuts this past weekend.
Horton led the Seahawks with seven targets and caught a touchdown against the Raiders. Sanders, making his first start for the Browns, threw a couple of touchdowns himself. Both guys held their own. And both made a lot of college football fans around the state extremely proud. You love to see it.

Could Trent Sherfield be a breakout candidate with the Broncos this fall?

(Imagn)
Trent Sherfield Sr. is more than just a glue guy on special teams. The veteran wide receiver proved against the 49ers that the positive reports about his play throughout camp were not just summer hype. Sherfield is a legitimate option at wide receiver and really looked good Saturday night in San Francisco.
He finished with three catches on three targets and had 73 yards and a touchdown to boot. He stood out, particularly after the starting offense underwhelmed in their showing, and then he came out and made plays all over the field.
I’m not trying to get too carried away here. Preseason is preseason. I liked what I saw from him though. I see why the organization was willing to give him a two-year deal this past spring. You need a couple of dependable vets that you can call on in key situations. And it’s starting to seem like Sherfield could be that type of guy for the Broncos in 2025.
Check out some of the other standouts from the win over the 49ers. Make sure you’re following Henry Chisholm, Zac Stevens and Co. throughout the season for the latest updates on all things Denver Broncos.

The Broncos aren’t worried about their sluggish start on Saturday night and neither should you. Do I need to remind you the 2008 Lions went 4-0 and out-scored the opposition by almost 50 points in the preseason before following it up with an 0-16 regular season? Weird stuff happens in August.

The Avs still have moves to make in order to shore up the depth of the third and fourth lines. They have started the process though.

Some perspective on Monday Morning
"The fact that the Broncos won 30 to 9 and I'm a little bit dissatisfied says a lot about where this team has come."
