👋 Good Morning!

The streak had to end at some point. After the Avalanche, Broncos and Nuggets won a combined 21 consecutive games this month, the fun came to an end on Monday night.

16-2 is still an absurd stretch. It’s a great time to be a sports fan in Colorado.

Denver’s depth is being tested

(Imagn)

The Nuggets are going to miss Christian Braun.

It was announced going into last weekend that the former Kansas star would be out at least six weeks with a sprained ankle. It’s a big blow to Denver’s depth, which has been one of the team’s greatest strengths in the early portion of the year.

While Braun hasn’t exactly lit it up offensively, his numbers were pretty much down across the board, he’s still a key piece for the Nuggets on both ends of the floor. And without him out there, you obviously have to tweak the rotation, which had looked so good over the first 12 games.

I’m not going to overreact to last night’s 130-127 loss to the Bulls. It was the first true bad loss of the season though.

The Nuggets had a chance to make it 8 straight wins. Unfortunately a rough third quarter proved too much to overcome despite getting 36 points, 18 rebounds and 13 assists out of Nikola Jokić.

Sunday’s win over the Chiefs put Denver in the driver’s seat in the AFC West.
