👋 Good Morning!

I hope you got all your summer projects completed because football is in the air and it’s absolutely glorious. The Week 0 college football slate was like a nice little appetizer ahead of this weekend’s main course, but it was exactly what I needed to get back in the zone.

Make sure you’re following all of our college football coverage over the course of the season. I may be a little bit biased but you’d be hard pressed to find as much in-depth coverage of both major teams as we have at DNVR.

Here’s why September could be key for the Broncos in 2025

(Imagn)

The Broncos are good enough to win the AFC West. If that’s actually going to happen though, the team has got to get off to a quicker start this fall.

Despite making the playoffs last season, Denver started the year 0-2, and that was after starting 0-3 in 2023. In fact, only once in the last six seasons have the Broncos begun the campaign with a victory (2021). Hey Alexa, play Wake me up when September ends.

Looking at the schedule, the Broncos do play two of the first three on the road, but it doesn’t feel like the early slate is too crazy. And the first two weeks in particular feel especially winnable.

Obviously it’s a long season and the first couple of weeks don’t necessarily define your year. But the Broncos have a chance to get some early momentum going and maybe even put themselves in the driver’s seat in the AFC West with a hot start.

The Chiefs have to open the year against the Chargers in Brazil, which means one of them is starting with a division loss and both will have to deal with the impact of the travel. Kansas City also plays Philly and Baltimore in the first month, so it’s not exactly a breezy start to the season for Mahomes and Co.

The schedule makers did Denver a solid in setting the Broncos up against a rookie quarterback in Week 1 and Daniel Jones in Week 2. Take care of business there and it sets up a really big matchup against the Chargers in LA in Week 3.

It’s great for football to be back. I’m looking forward to following all of the action with you all this fall. But if the football gods could just bless us with a little bit more luck out of the gate, this local sports writer would really appreciate it.

CSU has a two-headed monster at tight end this season with Jaxxon Warren and Rocky Beers. Will it help the Rams unleash the passing attack?

He’s still got it

See you at the tailgate
