👋 Good Morning!

Shams Charania reported an update on Nikola Jokić and he is maybe not quite as close to returning as Nuggets fans would hope. While the outlook is still optimistic, he is going to be reevaluated in another week or so.

How bad do the Broncos want to keep Davis Webb?

What is the next move for Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos?

On Tuesday we found out that the team fired a handful of coaches, including offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, one of Payton’s longtime assistants. Wide receivers coach Keary Colbert and cornerbacks coach Addison Lynch were also relieved from their positions.

While the decision to move on from Colbert isn’t all that surprising, Payton getting rid of one of his ‘guys’ is really interesting, especially when you factor in the head coaching interest that quarterbacks coach Davis Webb is receiving. Could Greg Penner and Co. open up the checkbook to prevent one of the NFL’s rising stars from going to coach a rival? And if that does prove to be the case, would Payton give up his offensive play-calling duties?

ESPN reported that Payton had interest in bringing over Joe Brady to call plays if he didn’t get the head coaching gig in Buffalo. So it does seem that the veteran coach could be willing to shake things up. If Webb is this hot of a commodity, though, might he even be worth grooming as the next head coach in waiting?

There’s a lot of moving parts at the moment but it’s going to be one of the more interesting storylines of the winter no matter how all of this shakes out. Change is a coming.

Avalanche Takeover

We’re taking over Ball Arena for the upcoming Avs-Red Wings game on Feb. 02.

Come hang with the DNVR Avalanche crew and your fellow Diehards as we remind the team from Detroit that we do in fact still hate their guts.

Jamal Murray had two different chances to tie the game at the free throw line and likely force overtime on Tuesday night. Shockingly he came up short on both trips and the Nuggets dropped a tight one to the Pistons (109-107).

Obviously it was a disappointment to see Murray unable to capitalize at the line. You need to seize those moments when you’re trying to make the first All-Star Game of your career. But for whatever reason his shot just seemed to be off in this game.

Murray has played the best basketball of his career this season, so I’m not going to harp on him too much. He still made plays for the team all night and played a key part in giving Denver a chance to win. But man, those are the losses that keep you up at night.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Murray go off in the next one. He’s usually someone who responds well.
