👋 Good Morning!
I wanted to start today’s newsletter by shouting out the wonderful staff at the DNVR Bar. If you haven’t ever been down there, the food is wonderful and the people who make it happen are terrific.
Anybody who has been around Denver in the last five years knows how much of a struggle it’s been for local businesses. I implore you all to support not just the DNVR Bar, but all the local spots in our wonderful city. We’ve lost too many gems already.

It takes two to tango

(Imagn)
Hardly anyone saw it because the NHL decided to schedule a regular season game at 10:30 a.m. (12:30 ET) on a Monday but Nathan MacKinnon was a monster in yesterday’s 3-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres.
MacKinnon scored twice for the Avalanche, bringing his point total to 8 for the young season. He and Martin Necas, who assisted ‘Nate Dogg’ on both of his goals, have really started to gel together out on the ice. The way they move was already different than most guys in the league and now those two are developing chemistry and learning how to play off each other. It’s really exciting.
The top line has been lethal this season. They’ve pretty much dominated the opposition in 5-on-5 hockey. And the incredible play from MacKinnon and Necas has been a big reason why.
As AJ Haefele wrote postgame, it’s unlikely they will keep the 164-point pace that they are each on right now. But the Avs are going to be really hard to deal with if these two can continue to play like this. It’s like watching a couple of brilliant dancers move in perfect sync.

Did we all write off the Rams prematurely? Friday’s 49-21 win over Fresno State might indicate so.
