👋 Good Morning!

There’s nothing quite like a weather delay to kill the momentum of a good game. But despite it being a bit of a snoozer in the second half, it’s just nice to have football back.

I was checking fantasy football scores, looking at who I picked in each matchup, and everything about it just felt right. Now all I need is a chilly Sunday afternoon, with snacks in the kitchen and something cooking in the crockpot.

From everyone here at DNVR, have a great weekend and enjoy the action.

Nik Bonitto’s new deal is another massive win for the Broncos

(Imagn)

The Broncos have locked down Nik Bonitto with a four-year contract extension worth up to $120 million with incentives. He’s now the highest paid non-quarterback in franchise history.

With an annual average of around $26.5 million, the 25-year-old edge rusher will see a significant jump from his rookie deal, but it’s actually a fairly team-friendly number considering what the market is right now.

Everything that the Broncos have done over the last six months has been exactly what you want to see from a team that hopes to maximize a Super Bowl window. Bo Nix is on a cheap deal for the next four years, so Denver can afford to surround him with talent on both sides of the ball.

The Broncos exceeded expectations by making the playoffs last year. But I really believe this team will be a threat in the AFC for the foreseeable future. It seems like the players agree based on the way everyone is leaving money on the table in order to stay in the Orange & Blue.

This is the brightest the future has looked since Peyton Manning signed. I’m excited to see the way that it all plays out.

Bonitto led the Broncos with 13.5 sacks last season and the team rewarded him with a big ole bag of cash.

CSU’s 6-foot-8 tight end made a great impression in his first career start last weekend. The converted quarterback nearly gave up the game a few years ago though.
