👋 Good Morning!
On the last day of 2025, I just wanted to take a second to acknowledge how much fun it’s been to connect with all of you. I’ve written this newsletter for about a year and a half now. Thank you all for making it a small part of your day.
Happy New Year from all of us here at DNVR.

Nuggets avoid total catastrophe

(Imagn)
It is going to be an incredibly difficult stretch for the Denver Nuggets, but the basketball gods have cut us all a break with Nikola Jokić’s knee injury. What looked like it could be a fatal blow — not just to this season but the title window in general — ended up being ruled a hyperextension rather than an ACL tear.
While it’s still a bummer of a situation for the MVP frontrunner to go down, this is pretty much the best-case scenario considering how things looked in the moment. The thought of potentially losing Jokić for a year or more is enough to bring a Nuggets fan to their knees.
I felt nauseous seeing him on the ground. It was like a movie scene where the world stops and all you can hear is a high-pitched ringing. Like we all just witnessed a car crash featuring the protagonist’s love interest.
Jokić will be reevaluated in four weeks. Until then the team really just has to tread water as best that it can while down four starters. The only thing that matters at this point is the playoff run, so as long as they don’t fall below the play-in games, a healthy version of this team is still going to be incredibly dangerous come April.
Brendan Vogt did a great job breaking everything down. Check out his piece below.
