👋 Good Morning!
Is there a better gig than being a failed college football coach?
James Franklin is getting $49 million after being shown the door by Penn State. Mike Gundy is owed $15 million from Oklahoma State. Even Trent Dilfer is getting $2.4 million from UAB and he is probably in the conversation for the worst hire of the 21st Century.
Give me a whistle and a contract.

One way a dominant Denver defense can become even more dangerous

(Imagn)
The Broncos recorded 9 sacks on Sunday in what was a dominant defensive performance against the Jets.
At least a few of those were on Justin Fields, as he doesn’t seem to understand the concept of getting rid of the football. But Denver as a team is now up to 30 on the year, which leads everyone in the NFL by 10 or more sacks, so it’s not as if getting after the quarterback is anything new for this team.
As of right now, the Broncos are second in the league in yards allowed at just 254 yards per game. They’ve done a good job of getting off the field. Denver is second in scoring defense as well at about 16 points allowed per game.
The defense has been awesome this fall. You can make a good case that Denver’s defense is the best overall unit, offense or defense, in the AFC West. The only thing you could really ask for more of is creating turnovers.
The Broncos are in the bottom third of the league in turnover margin (-3). And with just four takeaways through six games, Denver is 29th in the NFL in turnovers created (4). They shockingly have just one interception so far this season.
I’m not trying to nitpick. The defense really has been great. But if they can generate a few more turnovers, that’s how this group can join the conversation with all-time greats like the No Fly Zone or Orange Crush. It’s the last piece of the puzzle for this highly talented and aggressive defense under Vance Joseph.
