I know that Friday games aren’t great for everyone for logistical reasons. It’s tough to get up North from Denver in rush hour traffic. I personally love them, though, because it means that I get to watch the rest of the national slate on Saturday. And it typically means that the game is being shown during a solid exposure window too.

I can’t wait for football.

Thank God we’re one step closer to football season

The Broncos are in OTA’s this week which means we’re one step closer to football season. While all of the sports have their own charm, Denver has always been a football town.

The passion in Broncos Country is deep rooted. It’s passed down from generation to generation and in some ways it’s like a religious ritual. Mile High on game day is our church and we go there with roughly 77,000 members of the community to take in something greater than ourselves.

Alright, that might be a bit much, but that’s what the Broncos mean to people around here. You can feel the energy around town when the team is good. And for the first time in a long time, you started to feel that buzz again last season. What’s exciting is that I think there’s a good chance for the Broncos to be even better in 2025.

One of the new additions that has people excited is safety Talanoa Hufanga. Although you can’t take away a ton until the guys are in full pads, Sean Payton highlighted how smart the former 49er is and how he should be a big asset for the defense.

Hufanga is known for his physicality on the field. “It’s free violence,” he once said.

The DNVR Broncos crew has you covered with everything you need to know as we get closer to the season. Check out the rest of this feature on Hufanga and find out what he learned from his idol Troy Polamalu.

There are big expectations for Bo Nix after his breakout rookie season. What’s encouraging is that both Nix himself and Sean Payton love where the QB is at going into year two.

The Rapids lost a really frustrating game after I shouted them out on Wednesday. They have three home matches in June though. It could be a fun family activity if you’re looking for something to do this summer.

A national report dropped earlier this week stating that Brock Nelson blocked a trade to Winnipeg before ultimately agreeing to be traded to the Avalanche. According to David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period, there is also mutual interest in bringing back the veteran center this offseason. It’s been widely rumored that he wanted to go back home to Minnesota, so it’s encouraging that the Avs may have a better chance of bringing him back than expected.
