👋 Good Morning!
Did you watch Saturday’s controversial ending between Colorado State and Northern Colorado? What a wild, weird and confusing situation.
I posted it after the game but I really do commend the Bears for their effort. They were the better team that night and lost a heartbreaker. I know a thing or two about that as a CSU alum.
I do think this is a good time to once again bring up that we still don’t truly know what a catch is in 2025. If your life depended on it, could you succinctly define what it and more importantly what isn’t a catch? Possession is still highly ambiguous in so many different scenarios.
It was a really odd weekend of football around here.

The Broncos defense has a chance to be generational this season

(Imagn)
The offense didn’t dazzle us in Sunday’s win over Tennessee. The run game was nonexistent for three quarters and Bo Nix looked uncharacteristic at times, especially with the way he turned the football over. He just didn’t seem comfortable in the pocket and it might have led to the second-year quarterback pressing things a little bit.
Aside from being thankful that I remembered to bring sunscreen — it was toasty out there — the biggest takeaway that I had leaving the stadium was how this defense is going to be dominant. Not good, not above average, but the type of defense that keeps opposing coaches awake at night.
I’m not sure that we will ever see another unit quite as impressive as that 2015 defense. Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware together is the best pass-rushing duo I’ve ever seen. But this 2025 group has a similar DNA with both an elite front seven and a lockdown secondary.
Nik Bonitto looked like an All-Pro and watching Pat Surtain II in coverage is like watching an artist construct a masterpiece. There’s just nobody else in the world that can play quite like him.
Obviously we need to see more from the offense. That goes without saying. This defense is capable of carrying the team to a double-digit win season though. If the offense finds it rhythm on top of that, the Broncos might truly be contenders.
It’s good to be back.
It’s Tailgate Season

Were you surprised the Broncos elected to go for it on 4th-and-8 at the end of the game yesterday? You weren’t alone.
