👋 Good Morning!

Have you seen the pearl clutching over Sean Payton taking a shot at Russell Wilson?

I won’t bore you with a long tangent but I expected the New York sports world to be a little tougher. Y’all need a tissue?

The Broncos have only scratched the surface

(Imagn)

The Denver Broncos are 5-2 and rocking a four-game winning streak. If the regular season were to end today, they would be the 3-seed in the AFC after winning the division for the first time in a decade.

Despite the record, the looming question at the moment is whether or not the Broncos are sustainable. It’s taken three straight dramatic comebacks to pull out wins and the offense has a little bit of Tebow syndrome. As fun as it was to see Denver rattle off 33 fourth-quarter points, it would be nice to see the unit move the ball for 60 minutes in one of these games.

I believe in Bo Nix. I don’t care what some of the metrics say or whatever Pro Football Focus jargon his doubters want to throw my way. He has the tools. He has the charisma that all great quarterbacks seem to have. And we’ve seen the way the kid performs when the game is on the line.

I haven’t loved everything about the flow of the offense this fall. But I also believe that Sean Payton is a top 10 coach in the NFL and a schematic genius.

Progress isn’t usually linear. These two are going to click soon though. And when they do, the ceiling of this team is going to be on par with anyone in the league.

Criticize all you want, especially when the offense struggles like they did for three quarters against New York. That’s more than fair game. But I’m telling you that this group has really only scratched the surface. There’s still another level or two that Denver’s offense can elevate this fall. If they can do it, this team is as dangerous as anyone.
