👋 Good Morning!

I hope you’ve gotten the bad taste out of your mouth after yesterday’s debacle in Indianapolis. The Broncos had every opportunity to win that game and take a two-game lead over the Chiefs in the division. Instead they collapsed in all three phases and ruined everybody’s afternoon.

One loss is not the end of the world. Sunday just feels like a moment we’ll look back on with regret come January. What a missed opportunity.

The Broncos need to find some killer instinct

(Imagn)

It’s easy to fixate on the leverage penalty, which was certainly unacceptable and not a positive reflection of special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi, but the loss to the Colts was really a culmination of bad football by the Broncos throughout the second half.

The interception in the fourth quarter was inexcusable from Bo Nix. You just can’t have that type of turnover late when you have the ball in field goal range with a chance to extend the lead.

Not to mention that Will Lutz was the opposite of clutch when he needed to make a 42-yard field goal in a dome — something I’d like to expect a veteran kicker to be able to do.

Frustrating losses are going to happen. The Broncos better develop some killer instinct, though, or they will continue to blow games. They played with their food against Tennessee in Week 1 and it could have bitten them then. Hopefully this will be the wake-up call the team needed. Otherwise it could become an alarming trend that kills any potential the Broncos have this season.

PS I tried to warn everyone that playing in Indianapolis has always been a disaster for Denver. I’m not sure if this is the price we must pay for stealing Peyton Manning’s heart or if the guys are spending too much time at St. Elmo’s Steakhouse the night before, but that building always proves to be a house of horrors.

YOU BLEW IT

Misery loves company, right? Check out what the guys had to say after Sunday’s gut-wrenching loss. They break down what all went wrong, what to make of it all and where the team goes from here.

CU’s performance had Deion Sanders at a loss for words on Friday night.

Fortunately our guy, Scott Procter, is one of the best in the business. Check out what he had to say about the loss and why he thinks a shake-up of the offensive staff is needed.

The Rockies only need one more win to avoid tying the 2024 White Sox for the worst record in MLB history. With 12 games remaining on the schedule, you’d think they would be able to manage that, but I wouldn’t recommend holding your breath either. It could be a tight finish with how they’ve played over the last month.

Want to know what Sean Payton and the rest of the locker room thought about Sunday’s controversial leverage penalty? Zac Stevens has got you covered.
