The Buffs & Rams both have something to prove on Saturday

(Imagn)

Neither team was able to pull out a win in Week 1. But with Colorado and Colorado State each hosting very beatable opponents this weekend, the expectation should be to see blowout victories in Boulder and Fort Collins on Saturday.

CU is hosting Delaware, a team in its first season in the FBS, which is honestly something I didn’t know until this morning. They were typically a competitive team in the FCS ranks and won 8+ games in each of the last three seasons. The Buffs should have a significant athletic advantage though. It’s a matchup they should be able to handle without too much struggle — at least you’d assume so.

CSU, on the other hand, is hosting Northern Colorado. With love and respect for the homies in Greeley, UNC is just not a good football program. So if the Rams are going to make any noise in the Mountain West at all, this shouldn’t be a game they struggle in. I’ve written about the team for a decade and very rarely said this, but CSU should hang 50 on the board this weekend.

The college football season goes fast, so while there’s still time to work out some kinks in the non-conference slate, it’ll go quicker than you expect. It’s time to kick things into gear here.

Options are slim at this point, but why not?

Deion Sanders says that the highly touted 5-star recruit Julian Lewis will make his debut on Saturday.

CSU fizzled out in the second half but the Rams did have Washington on the ropes for a while in their Week 1 matchup.
