👋 Good Morning!
Last night wasn’t much fun. You wait around all offseason for the return of your favorite teams and then they immediately remind you how cruel the sports gods can be.
The Nuggets and Avalanche will be fine. Both teams going down in overtime was just a gut punch.

The evolution of ‘AG’ continues to impress

(Imagn)
Look… you can’t go 82-0. I’m mostly upset the Nuggets blew the season opener because it spoiled Aaron Gordon’s 50-piece.
‘AG’ going 10-of-11 from 3-point and dropping 50 points on a big national stage like this is big for his brand. But it won’t get the same reverence or love nationally after the Nuggets collapsed like that.
Ultimately the result stinks, especially on opening night after all of the preseason build-up, but my positive takeaway is that ‘AG’ has become a legitimately dangerous shooter from the perimeter in Denver. His evolution as a player has been such a joy to watch.
Our lead Nuggets writer Brendan Vogt went more in-depth on Gordon’s performance, including how it was one of the more efficient 50-point nights in NBA history. He laid out what went wrong for the Nuggets in Game 1 as well.

As annoying as the start (and finish) to this game was, the Avs have still not lost a game in regulation this season.
