A bombshell report dropped last night that really shocked the college football world. Jordan Seaton, the best offensive tackle prospect in the country, announced he will be entering the transfer portal.
A five-star recruit out of IMG Academy, Seaton has been the most consistent part of Colorado’s offensive line in recent years. He’s an extremely unique talent, and up until this point, he’s always seemed all in with the Buffs. He certainly was one of Deion Sanders’ guys. Even as recently as a few days ago, Seaton was lobbying on Twitter for transfer players to come join them in Boulder.
I know that I’m not the most popular person in the CU fanbase — I’m the ‘CSU guy’ through and through — but I promise that I’m not here to rub salt in the wound. College football has become a lawless, shameless game. And the only real truth right now is that the portal giveth, the portal taketh.
It’s tough to fault a young man for taking advantage and acquiring generational wealth. The starting price for Seaton is reportedly around $2-2.5 million. That’s life-changing money in a violent sport where there are no future guarantees.
But on the other hand, it’s also getting tougher and tougher for the average college football fan to emotionally invest in players, or even the teams in the same way that we used to. If wearing the colors means nothing to the guys on the field, if it’s just minor league sports, that’s far less compelling to those of us that fell in love with the traditions of the game.
There’s always a bigger bag out there.

Saturday will be the first home playoff game in Denver in a decade. With the resale market reflecting that, it’s going to be interesting to see if the stands look like a sea of orange or if the Josh Allen fanatics that roam the Rocky Mountain region will be able to buy up enough tickets to make their presence felt.
When the Broncos beat the Patriots in the AFC Championship on the path to Super Bowl 50, the crowd was about one-sided as I’ve ever seen. There’s always going to be some opposing fans sprinkled around the building, but Broncos Country ensured it was a true home field advantage that afternoon. The atmosphere was electric.

The Avs still secured a point but the 17-game winning streak at Ball Arena came to a disappointing end against Toronto late last night.

CSU Rams legend Trey McBride was a named a first-team All-Pro selection for the first time in his career after breaking the NFL single-season record for receptions by a tight end.
