The Florida Panthers were a wagon and there was no slowing them down. Not even Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl had enough firepower to take down that beast.

While it was an entertaining series, I’m not sure there was any result that would have made the Avs faithful feel better about losing to the Stars in seven again. But the more the playoffs progressed, the more I felt reassured that team made the right moves this year. The Avalanche were good enough to make it out of the West. They didn’t get the right result but the process was correct — even if Mikko Rantanen proved to be the grim reaper in Game 7.

I’m looking forward to seeing what this group does with a full year of Mackenzie Blackwood, Gabriel Landeskog, Brock Nelson, etc. I’m very optimistic about the Avs going into next season.

The Rockies tied a franchise record with seven home runs in Tuesday’s 10-6 win over the Nationals. The Rox went deep four times in the seventh inning alone to pull out the road win over the struggling Washington ball club.

Now winners of three straight overall, Colorado will look to win its second series of the season by taking one of the next two games at Nationals Park. If they were to win today, though, it would give the Rox a four-game winning streak for the first time in 2025.

The Nationals have lost 10 straight, so it’s not exactly shocking the Rockies have found some success against them. Regardless it’s always nice to see the guys get hot away from Coors Field. 10 home runs over a two-game span is a high water mark for the franchise and it’s pretty surprising they’ve done it out on the road.

I mentioned him yesterday but Hunter Goodman is the first Rockies player to excite me in the post-Arenado world. His seven home runs leads the MLB in June and he might just rake his way to the All-Star Game.

CSU men’s basketball will host an open practice on Wednesday morning for the first time under head coach Ali Farokhmanesh. The Rams lost a pair of starters to the transfer portal along with the departure of Niko Medved. Their roster looks quite solid going into 2025-26 though.

German Marquez looks for his third win of the season as the Rockies try to extend their winning streak to four games. A win today would give Colorado its second road series win of 2025 and give the team a chance to pull off its first four-game sweep since winning four in a row over Arizona in May of 2019.

The Avs likely have already made their most significant move of the offseason by re-signing Brock Nelson. Our insider AJ Haefele took a look at who might make a good reclamation project for the team.
