Being a sports fan is funny. I just covered one of the worst stretches in the history of Colorado State University. About a week ago, I couldn’t wait for the season to end.

After attending Jim Mora’s introductory press conference on Monday afternoon, I’m now all the way back in. The 2026 opener can’t come soon enough.

The Denver Broncos are 10-2 and winners of nine straight games.

While the mission is far from complete — the race for the 1-seed has only just begun — a nine-game winning streak isn’t something that should just be glossed over.

John Elway did it a few times in his career. Peyton Manning did it with the Broncos in 2012, when Denver won 11 straight to close out the regular season. But not even the Super Bowl 50 squad in 2015 was able to win nine straight games.

If the Broncos can beat the Raiders on Sunday, it will be just the fourth winning streak of 10 or more games in franchise history. This has been a chaotic season at times but this group is on one of the more impressive runs we’ve ever seen.

Obviously we want to see the hot streak going and for the Broncos to continue to battle for the top spot in the AFC. Essentially locking up a playoff spot before December is wild though, especially for a team led by a second-year QB, and playing in one of the toughest divisions in pro football.

Even the harshest critics have to admit that Bo Nix has been clutch this season. When the Broncos have needed him to make a play in the fourth quarter, he’s done it every single time.
