👋 Good Morning!

How’s everybody’s fantasy football season going? We’re not even through Week 3 yet and I’ve already lost Joe Burrow and Aaron Jones to IR in our 16-team DNVR League.

Every year I ask myself if it would be better to just walk away. Why add extra stress on top of being a diehard fan? Anyways, it might be time to start prepping for 2026 because the outlook over here is bleak.

We could use more regional college football matchups like CU and Wyoming on Saturday

(Imagn)

There’s only about 130 miles of separation between Boulder and Laramie but Saturday’s matchup featuring CU and Wyoming is a rare occurrence for the two schools.

Over the last 50 years there have only been five games between the Buffs and the Cowboys. The last one was back in 2009 and was a 24-0 home victory for CU. But before that you have to go all the way back to 1997, which was a 20-19 win that the Buffs squeaked out.

As a CSU alumnus, seeing my school’s two biggest rivals play each other is an odd feeling. But as somebody who appreciates regionality in college football, I think it’s a fun game locally and would like to see more like it.

I get that it’s all dictated by the TV networks now but what makes the college football experience unique is the way we’re all entangled in each other’s lives. On my street alone there are two CSU flags, two trucks with Wyoming stickers and a Subaru with a CU license plate. They’re all very nice people but there’s nothing I want more than to be able to smirk a little bit and wave when I see them after a big win.

The next game between CSU and CU won’t take place until 2029. And for the first time since World War II, there very likely will not be a Border War between CSU and Wyoming in 2026 or 2027. Putting the business element of it all aside — I’m not shaming the schools for how the game has evolved nationally — we’ll be missing a key element of the CFB experience and that’s the chance to go back and forth with our local rivals.

Enjoy Saturday’s matchup in Boulder. It’s going to be a while before there will be another one like it.

Gear up for the fall

There’s never been a better time than now to gear up for the fall. Take advantage of these incredible deals and snag whatever merchandise you’ve had yours eyes on.

Colorado State hosts UTSA and former Buffs QB Owen McCown on Saturday night.

CSU leads the all-time series 2-0, with the last meeting taking place in 2016, a 23-14 victory in the final season at Hughes Stadium. The Rams won a 33-31 thriller in the Alamodome the year before.

The Rox rallied and made things interesting in the ninth but still ultimately came up short in Tuesday’s 6-5 loss to Miami.

McCade Brown will be on the bump this evening for Colorado. First pitch is slated for 6:40 p.m. MT.

Aside from the interception in the fourth quarter, Bo Nix had a pretty nice performance in the loss to the Colts.
