👋 Good Morning!

Did you see that crazy comeback last night? For the first time in franchise history, the Rapids were able to salvage a draw (3-3) despite initially going down 3-0.

I don’t know much about the MLS these days. I haven’t consistently consumed the product since the days of Kyle Beckerman and John Spencer leading the team in Mile High.

One thing I do know, though, is that the Seattle Sounders have always been a pain in our side. What a wild finish in a building that’s typically more like a house of horrors.

Check out the DNVR Rapids Podcast. Our guys are very connected with the club and regularly have players on the show. The Rapids even brought their new kit into studio recently. If you’re a soccer fan in Colorado, you’re missing out if you’re not rocking with my guys Andre, YaYa & Duane.

What if CSU & CU had always been together?

(Imagn)

What if Colorado and Colorado State had always been in the same conference?

Amid all of the chaos of conference realignment, I’ve recently been exploring the concept of the two state schools and how things might be different today if CSU and CU had joined the Big 8 as a tandem.

Hear me out on this. Kansas and K-State have always been together. Oklahoma State eventually joined OU, though the Sooners obviously dipped for the SEC later on down the line. But the fact of the matter is that a lot of the current members of the Big-12 — schools who love to pound their chest about being “power 4” — they all were carried by Nebraska for 30 years.

Now, this might come off as anti-CU, but they actually carried some of the schools I’m referencing in the 90’s as well. And then ultimately Texas and OU kinda led the way in the 21st century.

My point here is how much more nationally relevant and competitive would CSU be today if the program had reaped the rewards of all that TV money over the years? Kinda like Iowa State, Kansas State, etc. I’ve been to many of the Big-12 cities and campuses and they don’t have anything on Fort Collins.

Iowa, Kansas and Utah have multiple ‘P4’ teams. So does Illinois, Michigan, etc. This is a topic I’ll go more in-depth in on the site. But I can’t help but wonder what college football could like in this awesome state if the Rams and Buffs had the same resources over the last 50+ years.

Rank Week is here 👀

It’s Rank Week at DNVR and we’re diving into the greatest ‘what ifs’ in Denver sports history.

Tune in nightly to see us explore some of the greatest question marks + check out the website this week for premium written content on some of the most pivotal moments.

The 2025-26 schedule was released in its entirety this week. The Avs will open the regular season in Los Angeles on Oct. 7 before hosting Utah in the home opener on the 9th. The schedule uniquely features 18 day games this season.

Coming off of the All-Star Break, the Rockies will play six straight at Coors Field, starting with a three-game series against Minnesota on Friday.

PS did you watch the home run swing off at the end of the All-Star Game? I’d hate it in an actual game but the concept is super fun for this type of setting.

I’d like you to put the word out that we’re back up

Rooftop Friday

Join the DNVR crew at Coors Field this Friday! Enjoy some sunshine, cold brews and a good time. We’ll see you on the rooftop 40 minutes before first pitch.
