👋 Good Morning!

You can say this a lot in this wonderful state of ours, but there’s just something about this time of year. Mid to late September in Colorado is absolutely elite.

I know the fall can be extremely busy for families out there. However, if you have the opportunity to go on a hike or maybe drive around the mountains and see the leaves starting to change, it can be exactly what you need.

There’s a lot going on in the world today and it can feel overwhelming. Being out in nature and seeing the beauty of Colorado reminds me how fortunate I am. It’s a cliche but every now and then it’s important to take a minute to take it all in.

Have a great weekend.

Will 2025 FINALLY be rock bottom for the Colorado Rockies?

(Imagn)

The Rockies have 15 opportunities to try and avoid going down as the worst team in MLB history and need two more wins to do so.

Currently sitting with a record of 40-107, regardless of whether the Rox reset the bar for historic levels of incompetence or not, clearly something needs to change with this organization. The fans have suffered through a lot over the years. But if this is somehow not rock bottom with the team, I just don’t know how much more people can take.

I’ve often said that Coors Field is the best sports bar in ‘LoDo’ and the reality of that is there will always be people who attend games. The damage the Rockies have done from a relationship standpoint with the vast majority of local sports fans, though, is going to take years to recover. And for some people that relationship will just never be the same.

Sure, there are always going to be butts in the seats. Families with young kids, bachelors out on the town, etc. Even six or seven years ago, though, there was a substantial amount of people in my life that watched the Rockies daily. I certainly did. Flash forward to the present and outside of people who are dependent on watching the team for their profession, I don’t know one.

Think about that for a second. I live and breathe local sports. The people in my life are just as obsessed. Yet none of us are truly emotionally invested in a team that was at one point a substantial thing in all of our lives. Coors Field was one of my favorite places on earth growing up. Now it feels like driving past an ex girlfriend’s house or something. The memories are there but it’s just not the same.

Outside of Dick Monfort selling the team, I honestly don’t expect anything to change. That said, I’ve got to tip my hat to him. It’s truly been a masterclass these last five years on how to drive away your biggest supporters.

Hockey season is just around the corner and there’s a lot to like about one of the newest additions to the franchise.
