👋 Good Morning!
Denver is going to look pretty much unrecognizable in the next decade. Between the development plans for the Elitch Gardens site and whatever happens with the land where Empower Field currently sits, the city is in for a massive shake-up.
Obviously Denver is no stranger to change. We’ve seen growth all around the state over the last 20+ years. It’s just weird to think about how quickly the landscape can completely evolve.
Brace yourselves. The future is here.

Will longtime fans get priced out of the equation with the new Broncos stadium?

(Imagn)
The Broncos made the right decision in electing to build the team’s next stadium in the city of Denver. There were many scenarios explored, including out east by the airport and down south in Lone Tree, but the Broncos are the heart and soul of the city. They belong downtown and it’s great to see that’s where they will stay.
I understand that a retractable roof will rub some purists the wrong way. The elements have always been a factor here in the Mile High City and the possibility of losing snow games altogether is a bit of a bummer. But from a business standpoint it makes no sense to build a facility that can’t host a Super Bowl, the Final Four, etc. So that was always going to be the case whenever the team decided to replace Empower Field.
While I was thrilled to see the ownership group have enough self awareness to fund the project themselves and not push for the taxpayers to foot the bill, one element of the process that makes me nervous is the potential implementation of personal seat licenses. Families that have had season tickets for decades could get priced out of the equation if the team goes that route and honestly that would make me sick.
I’m not ignorant to the fact that the NFL as a whole has been trending away from the average man for a long time. I mean, it’s not exactly a cheap endeavor to be a season ticket holder in the current building. I just hope ownership does right by the people that have been there for the team since day one.
The Broncos are for the people. Hopefully they always will be.
