👋 Good Morning!
These days it’s pretty rare for something that gets hyped up for years to live up to the expectations we all build up in our heads. The return of the NCAA Football video game series has genuinely been epic though.
It’s really cool that another generation of kids will get to grow up and fall in love with college football this way. I think it will do wonders for growing interest in the sport with younger demographics. And it’s pretty neat for folks like me too, who grew up absolutely obsessed with the game and now get to feel a little bit of that magic again as an adult.
I’m going to use the last little stretch of quiet time I have before fall camp pops off to take CSU to multiple national championships. Then I’ll probably pick a fixer-upper program like Tulsa and take them to the promised lands.

With no new deal coming for Nikola Jokic this summer, there’s that much more pressure for the Nuggets to win next season

(Imagn)
As reported by the Denver Post, the representatives for Nikola Jokić have informed the Nuggets that the three-time MVP will not sign a contract extension this summer.
Jokić still has three years remaining on his current contract but does have a player-option for the 2027-28 season. If he were to sign a deal this summer, he’d be eligible for a three-year $212 million extension. If he waits until the summer of 2026, though, he could sign a four-year extension worth close to $300 million.
Obviously it makes all the sense in the world for Jokić to wait until next year to re-work his contract. So I don’t think this should be a jarring scenario for Nuggets fans. It does however put a little bit more pressure to succeed on the organization.
At my core I believe that Jokić wants to stay in Denver for his entire NBA career. I think he’s Magic Johnson with the Lakers, Larry Bird with the Celtics, Reggie Miller with the Pacers, etc.
He’s comfortable here and we all know he’s not much of a fan of the celebrity status that comes with the territory. I just don’t see a scenario where he forces his way to the Knicks or something like that, especially as long as the Kroenkes give him the max deal. Jokić is a fierce competitor though. All of the jokes about him being apathetic about basketball couldn’t be further from the truth. That guy wants to win.
The Nuggets have made some intriguing roster moves for next season. Let’s hope it results in a parade next June followed by a new deal for the best player in the world.
Special opportunity for Diehards w/ Super Bowl 50 Champion Bennie Fowler
If you’re not a DNVR Diehard yet, what are you waiting for? Not only do you get access to premium content, you also get chances to attend epic events like a film session with the great Bennie Fowler.

Yesterday I advocated the for the Rox to trade Ryan McMahon while they still have a chance to get a quality return for him.
Well, do you remember Trevor Story? The shortstop the team refused to trade and allowed to walk away for nothing during free agency. He hit a home run in Boston’s 10-2 win last night. His stint in Boston actually hasn’t gone very well but it was fitting for him to do that in his first game playing against his old club.

The DNVR Broncos crew recently revisited the 2025 draft class and gave the team a grade for their overall haul. Unsurprisingly the guys have drastically different opinions on how the duo of Payton & Paton fared.

How cool is this?
Isaiah Stevens talks about reuniting with his former Colorado State teammate (and Kings first round pick) Nique Clifford, as a member of the Kings summer league squad.
